Each
year, CHTF is co-hosted in Shenzhen by Ministries and Commissions of
the national government and Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government. Up
to now, 16 CHTFs have been successfully held in succession. For each
CHTF, the total exhibition area exceeded 100,000㎡, nearly 3,000
exhibitors from more than 50 countries and over 500,000 visitors
attended. Currently, it is the largest and the most influential
scientific and technological fair in China and is renowned as “the No.1
Technology Show in China”.
CHTF
integrates transaction of achievements, exhibition of products,
high-level forum, merchant attraction of projects and cooperation &
exchange and focuses on the advanced technologies and products in such
fields as energy conservation, environment protection, new generation of
information technologies, biology, manufacture of high-end equipment,
new energies, new materials and new energy vehicles etc. After years of
development, CHTF has become an important window for the opening outside
in the China’s high-tech sectors and has played a more important role
in commercialization, industrialization and internationalization of
high-tech achievements as well as promotion of economic and
technological exchanges and cooperation between different countries and
regions.
I. Main Contents of CHTF
► Delegation Pavilion & International Pavilion
Delegation
Pavilion is for those participating delegations from the state
ministries and commissions, the provinces and municipalities, the
universities and colleges all around China.
International
Stand Area is set up for delegations from foreign government
authorities, foreign chamber of commerce, foreign industrial
associations and international organizations. Foreign SMEs in high
technology sectors are also welcome to join this zone to explore
business opportunities. This area boosts activities involving products
and projects introduction, scientific and technological exchange and
cooperation, matchmaking service, release of new technology, etc.

► IT of CHTF
As
one of the biggest specialized import and export fairs for information
technologies and products in China, it emphatically exhibits new
technologies, products and services in the field of new generation of
information technologies.
► CHTF/ Energy Saving, Environmental Protection & New Energy
As
the most attractive specialized show for newly-emerging brands on CHTF,
it emphatically exhibits the newest technologies and application
products in energy saving , environmental protection and new energy

EVENTS
► China High-Tech Forum
Being
part of the CHTF, the China High-Tech Forum has won extraordinary
reputation by its high-profile speakers as China’s most influential
platform in the economic and high-tech domains. Since 1999, a great
variety of celebrities have made speeches at this global stages,
including 13 Nobel Prize winners, more than 80 ministerial government
officials, as well as more than 400 transnational corporation
presidents, scientists and entrepreneurs worldwide.
Apart
from the grand opening conference, the industry’s most relevant issues
of the year will be addressed upon a series of theme events, including
the typical Capital Market Summit, New- Generation Information
Technology Summit, and Innovation & Entrepreneur Summit; as well as
the featured Internet + Summit, Internet Finance Summit, and The Belt
and Road Initiative & PPP Summit, which will be around the
discussion on the industry’s spotlighted topics.
► super-SUPER Special Events
During
CHTF, an extended service shall be provided for the exchange outside
the fair between the participating organs and the high-level personnel
in accordance with the individual needs of participating parties. The
modes of activities include those various individualized one-to-one and
one-to-many modes namely interview, discussion, business match, visit
and investigation, banquet, seminar and promotion etc.
Its
objectives are for establishing a high-level coordination and
communication channel for the participating domestic and foreign
delegations, promoting international and regional economic cooperation,
helping the foreign businessmen know about economic and scientific
development and investment environment in China, strengthening the
connection between the international capital market and the Chinese
enterprises and creating the opportunities for attraction of businessmen
and capital and import of technologies of domestic provinces and cities
and the exchange and development between the domestic and foreign
enterprises.
II. The Characteristics of CHTF
First,
CHTF is a window into technologies and hi-tech products of China and
the world. At every CHTF, Chinese ministries, provinces, Hong Kong,
Macau, Taiwan, universities, as well as foreign delegations and renowned
enterprises from over 100 countries and regions would attend, bringing
with them the latest products and technologies. Specifically, Chinese
ministries, academies and institutes, national demonstration projects,
key national labs, research centers and industry alliances would
showcase major national science and tech projects and results; Chinese
provinces and municipalities would showcase their key technologies and
industries facilitated by local hi-tech zones, research centers and key
enterprises; prestigious Chinese universities would showcase their
research and progress in combining teaching, research and industry
application; foreign governments, industry organizations and
international businesses would showcase major cooperation projects in
science and tech as well as their latest technologies; a great number of
famous enterprises from home and abroad would bring their latest
products and technologies in the hi-tech field.
Second,
CHTF is a channel for advanced international tech and products into the
Chinese market. Chinese delegations at CHTF bring with them enormous
domestic demand from the government side, while influential media
coverage inform consumers of exhibitors and their products, these
factors combine to offer a channel for exhibitors to present themselves,
obtain business information, increase communication and facilitate
cooperation. For example, Brussels Invest & Export has joined CHTF
since 2007, showcasing hi-tech products of Belgium for eight years in a
row; the Walloon Region of Belgium, European countries and the EU also
enrolled many times in the past; through CHTF, GSK Belgium reached
agreements to establish joint-venture companies with Shenzhen Seaking
and Walvax respectively; the Russian Ministry of Education and Science
led top Russian enterprises, colleges and institutes to join CHTF for 15
years in a row, engaging in extensive cooperation in high-end
equipment, new materials, aviation and space technology, etc; the
Bavarian State of Germany organized local SMEs to come to CHTF for 15
years in a row, opening up the vast Chinese market; the Korean cities of
Incheon, Kwangyang and Daejeon sent delegations for 6 years in a row,
holding Chinese-Korean business seminars and signing deals; on the
corporate side, Microsoft, Intel, Simens, Dupont, Hitachi, Huawei, ZTE,
Tencent, BYD, BGI, and other multinationals debuted latest products and
technologies at CHTF.
Third,
CHTF is a platform for in-depth cooperation and exchanges in
international tech and economic affairs. With CHTF becoming more global
and its influence rising, more and more foreign governments, chambers of
commerce, industry organizations and other international associations
come to CHTF to seek cooperation with Chinese counterparts. The Galileo
Project of the European Community and the European Space Agency, as well
as the EU’s SPICE Project sought cooperation with Chinese entities
through CHTF; the EU’s Horizon 2020 Strategy launched at CHTF 2014,
opening up new opportunities for China-EU cooperation; a number of
events such as Creative UK, 2014 IEEE Global High Tech Congress on
Electronics, Seminar on Smart Cities in Canada, Science, Tech and
Innovation in Edinburgh, and Maker’s Night were held during CHTF.
Foreign government agencies promoted their economies at CHTF to attract
business and investment and gain access to the Chinese market. In this
regard, I’m very pleased to acknowledge Mr. Jean-Marc DELPORTE, Chairman
of the Management Committee of the Federal Public Service Economy, who
gave a speech at CHTF Forum 2014 and pushed for closer ties between CHTF
and Belgium.

IV. Appraisal of CHTF from the guests
